7/13 IN THE NEWS: Ridge College has a new Director of Student Experiences, Sebastian Craig. This is Mr. Craig’s first post-secondary position, having previously held the position of headmaster at Edgewood Academy. Massachusetts’ loss is Oregon’s gain! 

7/18 IN THE NEWS: Spotted at the Eagle Nest resort, award-winning photographer Grant Davies taking wedding pictures of a gorgeous couple eloping. The private wedding for two took place on the rock beach below the resort. The happy couple is rumoured to be new to Conception Ridge…

7/26 IN THE NEWS: A baby boy arrived fast and furious, surprising his parents, who had just arrived at Conception Ridge Memorial Hospital! The young mom, who declined to be identified to this reporter, delivered him safely in the Emergency Room before being moved to Labour & Delivery. Her much older husband was glued to her side the whole time. This reporter’s curiosity is piqued.

8/02 IN THE NEWS: Applications now being accepted for next summer’s Ridge College co-op workplace experience program! Successful applicants will have their choice of working on a local ranch, in the Dean’s office on campus, or being placed with a local business such as photographer Grant Davies.

8/09 IN THE NEWS: Ridge College has a new program, offering incoming students the chance to audit summer classes before they start school in the fall. Spotted in the astronomy class is the young woman living with Henry Wilde above his barber shop. Curious…

8/16 NOSY NEIGHBOR OBSERVATION: Is it just me, or are there more May December pairings in Conception Ridge than ever before? Everywhere I look, dear reader, there are starry-eyed young women with men old enough to be their fathers. But the virility of these men… WHEW. Age is just a number, am I right?

8/23 IN THE NEWS: Flying off the shelves at the Conception Ridge bookstore: hot age gap romances! These short, sweet satisfying reads remind us of our favourite CR couples.

9/6 IN THE NEWS: Henry Wilde isn’t hiding the fact that his guest–in his one-bedroom apartment over his barbershop–is a young woman. But this columnist can now exclusively report that in fact the girl is the daughter of his high school girlfriend, who left Conception Ridge abruptly almost nineteen years ago…

9/13 NOSY NEIGHBOR OBSERVATION: It seems to be official. The young woman living with Henry Wilde is in fact the daughter of his long ago high school girlfriend. And this observant reporter always thought Wilde held unrequited feelings for the girl’s mother… but how he looks at Summer is on a whole different level…

9/20 IN THE NEWS: There’s a new librarian in town, and she’s stocking the shelves at the Conception Ridge library with scandalous material. This scribe thinks she has excellent taste, but not everyone agrees.

9/27 YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST: Conception Ridge lighthouse keeper Ford Gamble has grown a beard! Some are saying he looks like a young, sexy Santa Claus. This gossip columnist wouldn’t be surprised if he was asked to play that role this holiday season… and we fully expect him to growl no, but then do it anyway.

10/4 IN THE NEWS: As first reported here last week, a certain young lady has her eye on lighthouse keeper Ford Gamble as a back-up Santa Claus! And it’s none other than his best friend’s daughter… We suspect this holiday ho ho ho will end with some oh oh oh’s!

10/11 IN THE NEWS: The latest books flying off the shelves at the Conception Ridge bookstore? Short, hot, read-in-a-single-night steam fests! This writer wants to know if you like all the spice packed into a short read?

10/18 YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST: Ford Gamble, Conception Ridge’s reclusive lighthouse keeper, was seen coming out of the jewelry store yesterday afternoon… why would a confirmed bachelor be ring shopping?

10/25 IN THE NEWS: Seen at the roadhouse out by the highway… Henry Wilde, Conception Ridge’s favorite barber, and his young house guest. He seems quite attentive to her needs. This writer is fascinated.

11/1 IN THE NEWS: The mayor has hired a new chief of staff. Conception Ridge native Nash Armstrong is returning to his hometown after a decade working in federal politics. And a heads up to the nosy Nellies out there…he is single!

11/8 IN THE NEWS: The coffee shop in town is hiring part-time baristas! Interested parties should drop a resume off at Wake Up Call on Main Street. Students welcome to apply. They’ll work around your class schedule!

11/22 NOSY NEIGHBOR OBSERVATION: Isn’t there something magical about a big, tough guy finally falling for the right girl? Especially when he’s been alone for so long? Looking at you, Henry Wilde. And Ford Gamble, too!

11/29 IN THE NEWS: The Cliffside Village retirement community–just down the road from the Conception Ridge lighthouse–has hired a new recreation and entertainment assistant. Neely McIntosh says her first big project will be a blow-out Christmas party for the residents. “Santa is definitely coming to Cliffside Village this year, I promise!”
